Free Visa Alerts
NHFCU takes debit card fraud very seriously and continues to be in the forefront of providing you with the tools to keep your information safe. NHFCU consumer debit cardholders have the option to enroll in transaction alerts on Visa.com. It is easy to enroll to receive the alerts via e-mail. Go to Visa.com and select the Pay with Visa tab then select Payment Technology and Visa Purchase Alerts. Simply follow the three easy steps to enroll your card. Once enrolled you can establish alert triggers. You will receive a Visa Purchase Alert in near real-time via e-mail when a transaction meets your defined parameter. These triggers include:
- Individual transaction amount thresholds
- International transactions
- Card-absent transaction, such as telephone or online orders
Here is an example of what your e-mail could state: “Alert. Your Visa card ending in 1234 was used at Jos A. Bank in San Francisco, CA US FOR $44.44.” If the transaction is unfamiliar to you, contact one of our NHFCU locations during business hours or call 1-800-535-8440 after hours to report the suspicious transaction.
Remember enrolling is easy and transaction alerts are a great tool to help you manage and protect your money. Fraud from exposure and associated losses is reduced by 40% when cardholders receive alerts. It gives you the advantage of knowing when the transaction is happening instead of long after it has withdrawn from your account.
